About the project
Digital Iceland is an ambitious project commissioned by the Icelandic government to provide digital services and increase transparency towards its citizens.
My Pages is a centralized service portal where all citizens can access all necessary public documents and services in one place through electronic identification.
Users can also handle most interactions with government authorities easily through a single website — rather than navigating between various institutional websites. The site is under continuous development, with more institutions and their data being regularly added.
Journey
The goal of My Pages was to create a digital portal where citizens can easily access a wide range of public services — such as information on housing and real estate, the national registry, licenses and certificates, petitions, health insurance, and more. Users can also submit applications for licenses, grants, and various other services through the platform.
The Digital Mailbox offers a simple, secure, and accessible way for government authorities and citizens to exchange information. By consolidating everything into a single, organized inbox, users gain a clear overview of important documents, including those related to court cases, company records, and health information.
By gathering all information on a single website — with a unified login, proxy access, and application system — there is no longer the need for each individual institution to maintain its own web solution.
Discovery with design thinking
Approach
Since the information within My Pages and the Digital mailbox is sensitive and the user base is broad, it is essential to build on accessible and user-friendly design principles. The website is developed based on the Digital Iceland design system to ensure consistency across solutions and increase development speed. This creates a sense of continuity and familiarity for users as they interact with the many institutions that are part of Digital Iceland.
Technical implementation
My Pages brings together access to data and services from over 15 government institutions in one place, which citizens can access using electronic identification.
With a single login, the public can access valuable information such as loans, health records, vehicle registration, work permits, and even digital credentials like driver’s licenses and disability cards. Users can also submit applications, digitally sign documents, and send or receive files through the Digital Mailbox — a secure communication channel with government authorities.
Unified access
My Pages provide access to a wide range of personal data from government institutions. This includes, among other things, the status of all applications submitted through Ísland.is, access to property records, and health information, prescription purchases, and entitlements retrieved from the health insurance system, along with much more.
Simplifying interaction between the public and the government

"We’re proud to be part of shaping solutions that simplify communication between the public and the government, save time, and reduce waste. This is a great example of how design, technology, and a clear strategy can have a direct impact on people’s lives — and on society as a whole."
